The Palais Galliera stands at 10 avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. It was funded by the Duchess of Galliera, Maria Brignole Sale De Ferrari, and designed by Léon Ginain, who based it on a palace the duchess owned in Genoa. Construction began in 1879, and the duchess died in 1888 before it was finished. Ginain completed the building in 1894.

The palace is in the Italian Renaissance style, with a cut-stone facade and a steel underframe built by the Eiffel Company. The mosaic floors and domes are by Giandomenico Facchina, and statues on the facade represent painting, architecture and sculpture.

It became a museum of industrial arts in 1902. Since 1977 it has been the city's fashion museum, showing French fashion from the eighteenth century to today. It reopened in September 2013 after a major renovation.
