The Palais de Tokyo stands at 13 Avenue du Président-Wilson in Paris, facing the Trocadéro. André Aubert, Marcel Dastugue and Paul Viard designed the Art Deco building, inaugurated on May 24, 1937 for the International Exposition. The City of Paris owns the eastern wing and the French state owns the western wing. The contemporary art center opened in March 2002.

Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal overhauled and expanded the building. The article gives 2012 for this work, though the center opened in 2002. It calls the Palais the biggest non-collecting contemporary art museum in Europe. The article gives no materials or dimensions.

Its Pavillon residency program ran from 2001 to 2017 and hosted over 130 international artists. The museum shares the building with the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris. Iéna station on Metro Line 9 is very close.
