The Palace of Ardashir near Firuzabad in Fars was built by Ardashir I of the Sasanian Empire in 224 AD. The article names no architect. The infobox lists the style as Sasanian, while the text says the design fits neither Parthian nor Sasanian categories and is particular to architects of Fars.

It measures 340 by 180 feet (104 by 55 m), with an iwan 60 feet (18 m) high and three domes. The builders used local rock and mortar, with plasterwork on the interior walls. Its perimeter walls are about twice as thick as those at Qal'eh Dokhtar, and the site includes a spring-fed pond tiled on its sides.

The article calls it a palace rather than a castle, though the infobox says castle. It says the interior is comparable to the Tachara palace at Persepolis, a claim tagged as needing a citation. The iwan has partially collapsed.
