The Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, Paraná, began with a building designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1967 and opened in 1978. It was inaugurated as the Novo Museu in 2002 and reinaugurated on July 8, 2003 under its present name. Roberto Burle Marx designed the garden. The article roots the style in modern architecture, in the international style, with affinities to postmodern architecture.
The complex covers 35,000 square meters, with 19,000 square meters of exhibition space. The first building is reinforced concrete, and the annex has white concrete walls with glass and steel facades. The annex is 30 m tall.
The annex is shaped like an eye, hence "Eye Museum." Sinuous ramps, a spiral staircase and an underground walkway link the buildings, and a water pool and diamond-shaped glass facades add character. The article names no client.
