The Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam stands on Oosterdokseiland, just east of Amsterdam Centraal station. Jo Coenen, the former state architect of the Netherlands, designed it. The Central Library moved there in 2007 from Prinsengracht, where it had opened in 1977. The cost was 80 million euros. The article gives no style, materials or construction dates.

It has 28,500 square meters of floor space across 10 floors. There are 1,200 seats, 600 with internet-connected computers, plus an auditorium, a library museum and the Gerard Reve Museum. A restaurant on the seventh floor has a south-facing terrace.

Arup did the lighting design, and an air system cools the building by drawing in outside air. It is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
