One Island East is an office skyscraper at 18 Westlands Road in Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay, on Hong Kong Island. Wong & Ouyang designed it, Swire Properties developed it, and Gammon Construction was the main contractor. Construction ran from 2006 to 2008 at a cost of HK$2 billion. Part of the site was acquired under the Land (Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment) Ordinance, and two older industrial buildings were demolished in 2005.
The tower has 69 stories plus two basements and 1,554,590 square feet (144,426 m²) of floor area. The infobox gives its height as 978 feet (298 m), and the text gives 979 feet (298.35 m). Its 37 lifts include six high-speed shuttles to the sky lobbies on floors 37 and 38.
On August 7, 2008, soon after the No. 8 wind signal was raised for Tropical Storm Kammuri, some window panes shattered. Glass fell across the street and damaged windows at Westlands Court. There were no injuries.
