The Old Library at Trinity College Dublin was built from 1712 to 1732, and the article attributes it to Thomas Burgh without stating a style. The lower story is Calp limestone ashlar from Palmerstown, and the upper stories are gray Ballyknockan granite. The original St Bees sandstone facing deteriorated and was replaced, except for the carved cornice.

The Long Room is 213 feet (65 m) long and houses 200,000 of the library's oldest books. Its roof was raised in 1860 to add an upper gallery, replacing a flat ceiling. Fourteen marble busts by Peter Scheemakers line it, and a €90 million restoration began in 2022.

The Eavan Boland Library, an imposing Brutalist structure by Paul Koralek of ABK Architects, opened in 1967. The Lecky Library followed in 1978 and the James Ussher Library in 2003. The Old Library houses the Book of Kells, and the article gives no ticket prices.
