The Oculus is the station house of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, between 2 and 3 World Trade Center, and was designed by Santiago Calatrava for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Construction began in earnest on July 8, 2008, and it partially opened on March 3, 2016. Calatrava described the bird concept as a bird being released from a child's hand. The article names no formal style.

Custom steel was imported from northern Italy, and the floors are marble. The skylight spans about 330 feet, with 114 rafters. The original mechanically opening roof was removed in 2008 for budget and space reasons.

The hub cost approximately 4 billion dollars, and the Oculus contract was 542 million. It connects to the subway, Fulton Center and Brookfield Place.
