The article names no client. The infobox gives groundbreaking in 1823 and dedication in 1829, while the text gives the cornerstone as September 1, 1824, with primary construction from 1824 to 1829.

The article calls the style Gothic Revival, using stone from the Tanneries quarry in Griffintown. It is 259 feet (79 m) long, 151 feet (46 m) wide and 197 feet (60 m) high.

Arson destroyed the Sacred Heart Chapel in 1978. The church became a minor basilica in 1982 and a National Historic Site in 1989. Maurice Richard, Pierre Trudeau and Brian Mulroney had state funerals there. It is an active Catholic church that hosts concerts and draws about 11 million visitors a year. Restoration began in 2020. The article gives no hours.
