The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin credits Pietro Francesco as architect in the infobox only, and the text names none. It names no client. The infobox gives 1508 to 1515, while the text says construction of the stone fortress began in 1500 with the Ivanovskaya Tower, main work started in 1508 and it was completed by 1515.

The article names no style. Stone replaced earlier oak fortifications, which a fire destroyed in 1513. The wall is about 1.2 miles (2 km) long with 13 surviving towers, and the area is 22.7 hectares. The Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region owns it.

The Kremlin lost its military role after Kazan fell and later housed city and provincial authorities. Anti-aircraft guns stood on its towers in World War II. Restoration began under a 1949 order, and a 2021 project restored the inner battle road. Since August 2021 visitors can walk the full circuit of the wall. The article gives no hours.
