The Nippon Budokan in Tokyo's Kitanomaru Park was designed by Mamoru Yamada, according to the infobox, and built by Takenaka Corporation for the Nippon Budokan Foundation. It was completed on September 15, 1964 and opened on October 3, 1964, at a cost of 2 billion yen. The text describes an octagonal building, and a claim that it is modeled on Hōryū-ji's Yumedono needs a citation.

The building is 42 meters (138 feet) high and holds 14,471 people, split into 2,946 on the arena floor, 3,199 on the first floor, 7,846 on the second and 480 standing. The article gives no materials or construction start date. A 2020 renovation appears only in the infobox.

It is primarily a martial arts venue, hosting national judo, kendo, karate and aikido championships, and it has hosted concerts and the national memorial service on August 15. It hosted judo and karate at the 2020 Olympics.
