The Niederwald Monument above Rüdesheim am Rhein was designed by the architect Karl Weißbach and the sculptor Johannes Schilling. It commemorates the founding of the German Empire in 1871 and, the text says, represents the union of all Germans. The article names no client, style or materials. It cost an estimated one million gold marks.

The infobox gives 1871 to 1883, but the text says the first stone was laid on September 16, 1877, and it was inaugurated on September 28, 1883. The monument is 125 feet (38 m) tall, and the central Germania figure is 41 feet (12.5 m).

It stands on the Niederwald hill within the UNESCO-listed Rhine Gorge. Visitors can arrive by gondola lift from Rüdesheim, which replaced a rack railway, or by car, chairlift from Assmannshausen or hiking trails. The article gives no hours or fees.
