The New World Center at 500 17th Street in Miami Beach was designed by Frank Gehry as the home of the New World Symphony. Yasuhisa Toyota was acoustician, and Facchina Construction built it. Ground was broken in January 2008, and the center opened on January 26, 2011. It cost $160 million. West 8 designed the park after Gehry left that role following a budget cut. The building has 100,641 square feet (9,350 m²). The exterior is glass and white plaster, while the interiors show Gehry's curved forms. The hall has 756 seats, none more than 13 rows from the stage. A sky-lit atrium, more than 30 rehearsal rooms and a 2.5-acre park complete it.
A 7,000-square-foot projection wall with 155 speakers shows free outdoor wallcasts. The article gives no hours or prices.
