The National Stadium in Kaohsiung was designed by Toyo Ito for the Kaohsiung City Government. It was completed and opened in May 2009. The article gives no start date or style. It describes a semi-spiral form, like a dragon.

Solar panels cover the vast external face. About 1 megawatt of solar cells meets most of the stadium's power needs, and surplus power goes to the grid. The article claims it is the first stadium in the world to be powered this way. It holds 55,000 people and is the largest stadium in Taiwan by capacity.

It was the main venue for the 2009 World Games, including the opening and closing ceremonies. It hosts football matches, including FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and major concerts. It lies within walking distance west of World Games Station on the Kaohsiung MRT.
