The Narayanhiti Palace Museum in Kathmandu stands east of the Kaiser Mahal, next to Thamel. The infobox names Benjamin Polk, an American architect living in India, as architect, and King Mahendra among its clients. Construction began in 1963 and ended in 1969, and a housewarming was held on February 27, 1970 for Crown Prince Birendra's wedding. The article gives conflicting dates for demolishing the earlier palace, 1958 in a caption and 1963 in the text.

The site covers 38 acres (15 ha). The palace has 40,838 square feet (3,794 m²) of floor space in guest, state and private wings. The article calls the interior Late Victorian, with Nepali forms used as a national symbol.

The royal massacre of June 1, 2001 took place here. Gyanendra vacated the palace on June 11, 2008, and the museum was created that year.
