The Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo was designed by Alfonso Manescalo. Khedive Tawfiq ordered the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) to set up the museum in 1880, and Max Herz later asked the Awqaf for a larger building. The infobox gives 1903 as established. The text says foundations were laid in 1899 and the current building was completed in 1902.

The article calls the style Neo-Mamluk and describes a two-story building with two entrances and its main facade on Port Said Street. It names no building materials. About 4,500 artifacts are displayed in 25 halls, from more than 100,000 objects.

A car bomb damaged the museum on January 24, 2014, destroying many artifacts, and it reopened in January 2017 after reconstruction. The National Library shares the building. The article gives no hours.
