The Museu de Arte do Rio, known as MAR, sits at Praça Mauá in Rio's Centro district. Jacobsen Arquitetura prepared the plan, with ideas from Paulo Jacobsen, Bernardo Jacobsen and Thiago Bernardes. The article describes a partnership between the local government and the Fundação Roberto Marinho. It gives no style for the project and no construction dates.

It occupies two buildings. The Palacete Dom João VI, in an eclectic style, holds the exhibition rooms. The former Mariano Procópio bus station houses the Escola do Olhar and offices. A suspended catwalk of 2,300 square meters links them, and the built area is 11,240 square meters.

The museum opened on March 1, 2013, though some areas were unfinished. Governor Sérgio Cabral put the cost at R$76 million. It won the museum category of the 2013 Architizer A+ Awards. The article gives no hours.
