The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations, MuCEM, stands in Marseille on reclaimed land at the harbor entrance, beside the 17th-century Fort Saint-Jean and the former port terminal J4. Rudy Ricciotti designed it with Roland Carta, and the French government owns it. The infobox gives June 1, 2013 as the establishment date, while the text says it was inaugurated on June 7, 2013 as part of Marseille-Provence 2013.

The building is a 160,000-square-foot (15,000 m²) cube inside a latticework shell of fiber-reinforced concrete, which the article describes as made of stone, water and wind. It has two exhibition levels and an underground auditorium for 400. A 430-foot (130 m) footbridge links it to Fort Saint-Jean, which was restructured as part of the project.

It won the Council of Europe Museum Prize in 2015. From 2013 to 2016 it recorded 8.5 million visitors, including 2.2 million in its exhibition spaces.
