The Mountain Dwellings, or Bjerget, in Ørestad, Copenhagen were designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and JDS Architects, and completed in 2008. They combine apartments with a parking garage in an 11-story reinforced concrete building. The article gives the style only as modern, and states no client or construction start.
Eighty penthouses step up the sloped garage roof like a mountainside, each with a roof garden. The garage holds 480 cars, with ceilings up to 53 feet (16 m). A photorealistic image of Mount Everest covers the north and west facades. A 3,000-square-meter mural adorns the garage interior. An inclined elevator inspired by ski lifts and a public staircase complete the scheme.
The total floor area is 33,000 square meters. It won the 2008 World Architecture Festival Award for Best Residential Building and a 2009 ULI Award for Excellence.
