The Monument to Party Founding stands on Munsu Street in the Taedonggang District of Pyongyang, on the bank of the Taedong River. The Mansudae Art Studio made it. It was completed on October 10, 1995, the 50th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. The article does not say who commissioned it.
It is 164 feet (50 meters) tall, matching the 50 years. A hammer, a sickle and a calligraphy brush stand for workers, farmers and intellectuals. Three clenched fists follow the party emblem. A belt of 216 blocks with a 138-foot (42-meter) inner diameter symbolizes unity of the leader, party and people.
The 230-foot (70-meter) circular base is said to represent roughly 70 years of party history. An earlier monument was raised in 1975 at the Party Founding Museum. Foreign access is probably by organized tour, which is an assumption.
