The Monastery of Yuste stands near Cuacos de Yuste in the province of Cáceres. The Hieronymite order founded it in 1402. The article names no architect, and no style in the text or infobox. It calls the site both a monastery and a palace house.

Charles V retired there in 1556, after abdicating the Spanish crown to his son Philip II and the imperial crown to his brother Ferdinand I. The monastery had to be expanded that year to house the emperor and an entourage of 50 or 60. He died there on September 21, 1558, and was buried in the church, though his remains were later moved to the Escorial.

The French army burned the monastery in 1809 during the Peninsular War, and the Spanish government restored it in 1949. Pauline Order monks now live there, and it received the European Heritage Label in 2007. Visitors can see the emperor's apartments.
