The Museum of Old and New Art, or MONA, sits on the Berriedale peninsula within the Moorilla winery estate near Hobart. Fender Katsalidis designed it for David Walsh, whose private collection it shows. It opened on January 21, 2011, after the earlier Moorilla Museum of Antiquities closed in May 2006. The article names no style, materials or floor area.
A single-story building stands at street level, with three larger levels cut into the cliffs below. It has no windows and a spiral staircase. Works hang without standard labels, and visitors use an app for interpretation. The collection exceeds 1,900 works and includes Wim Delvoye's Cloaca Professional and Sidney Nolan's Snake.
Most visitors arrive by ferry up the River Derwent. Tasmanians enter free and others pay. It hosts the Dark Mofo winter festival. It had 347,000 visitors in 2018. The article gives no hours.
