The Miraflores Charterhouse near Burgos was designed by Juan de Colonia, and his son Simón de Colonia continued after his death. King John II of Castile donated the palace-alcázar of Miraflores to the Carthusian Order in 1442. The text says Henry III erected the palace in 1401, a fire destroyed the pavilion in 1452 and Simón finished the vaulting in 1484.
The article calls the style Isabelline, late Gothic. The church has a single nave with a stellar vault, side chapels and a polygonal apse. It has alabaster royal sepulchers and a carved wooden altarpiece by Gil de Siloé, polychromed and gilded by Diego de la Cruz from 1496 to 1499.
The portal was moved in 1657 to 1659, and it and the cloister were restored in 2010. It became a Spanish monument in 1923. It lies about 2 miles (3 km) east of central Burgos, and visits are free. The article gives no hours.
