Messner Mountain Museum Corones is a museum built into the summit of Kronplatz, a ski mountain in South Tyrol, Italy. Zaha Hadid Architects designed it, and the design was first unveiled in 2013. The site is 2,275 meters (7,464 feet) above sea level. It is the sixth of Reinhold Messner's mountaintop museums.
Most of the museum lies underground. Visitors descend through caverns and grottos across three floors linked by staircases. Three large volumes project through the rock face. Two form picture windows, and one forms a balcony that juts out 6 meters (about 20 feet).
The main volumes are glass-reinforced fiber concrete, pale gray outside and darker inside. The walls are 40 to 50 centimeters thick to resist earth pressure, and the roof is up to 70 centimeters thick. Windows frame the Peitlerkofel and Heiligkreuzkofel peaks. The exhibits cover mountaineering history and Messner's career.
