The Memorial to the Sinti and Roma Victims of National Socialism stands on Simsonweg in the Tiergarten in Berlin, near the Brandenburg Gate. Israeli artist Dani Karavan designed it. The German Federal Government agreed in 1992 to build it, after long-standing demands from the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma and the German Sinti Alliance. Chancellor Angela Merkel unveiled it on October 24, 2012.
A dark, circular pool of water forms the center, with bronze lettering around it. In the middle, a retractable triangular stone refers to the badges worn by concentration camp prisoners. A fresh flower is placed on the stone every day.
A poem by the Roma poet Santino Spinelli appears around the memorial in four languages, and information boards surround the site. The article does not state the dimensions.
