The M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark in Helsingør was designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, with interiors by the Dutch architects Kossmann.dejong. The museum is a self-governing institution, and 11 foundations financed construction. Work began in September 2008 and it opened on October 5, 2013. The article states no style or materials.

It is built underground, with 7,600 square meters, to meet height restrictions that protect the view of Kronborg. It occupies a former dry dock 150 meters long, 25 wide and 9 deep, which stays an empty space crossed by ramps and bridges. The aim was the feel of a ship's deck.

The museum has teaching facilities, workshops, a cafe, and hosts conferences and cultural events.
