Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael was commissioned from Frank Lloyd Wright in 1957 by the Marin County Board of Supervisors. Wright died in 1959, and Taliesin Associated Architects, led by William Wesley Peters and Aaron Green, completed it. The infobox gives 1960 to 1976. The text gives a February 1960 groundbreaking, the Administration Building in 1962, the Hall of Justice in 1969 and the exhibition hall in 1976.
Two wings join at a spired rotunda, with pink stucco walls and arches under a blue roof. The Administration Building is 580 feet (177 m) long and the Hall of Justice 880 feet (268 m). Planned cost was about $10 million, while the 1969 figure is $16.9 million in one source and $21 million in another.
The 1970 courthouse attack and bombing led to added security. The main building became a National Historic Landmark in 1991. It holds county offices and courts, with Wednesday public tours.
