MALBA is the Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires, on Avenida Figueroa Alcorta in Palermo. Eduardo Costantini founded it, and a not-for-profit foundation runs it. An open contest drew 450 proposals from 45 countries. Gaston Atelman, Martin Fourcade and Alfredo Tapia won first prize, a claim the article flags as needing a citation. The Argentine firm AFT Architects executed the building. Construction began in 1998, and the museum opened in September 2001. The article gives no style or materials.
The museum collects Latin American art from the early 20th century to the present, built around the Costantini Collection. Highlights include Frida Kahlo's Autorretrato con chango y loro and Tarsila do Amaral's Abaporu. In December 2025 it acquired the Daros Latinamerica Collection of 1,233 works.
It adds a cultural center for art and film, and draws over a million visitors a year. The article gives no hours.
