The Majestic Theatre is at 245 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan's Theater District, between Eighth and Seventh Avenues. Herbert J. Krapp designed it in a Spanish style for the developer Irwin S. Chanin and the Chanin brothers, and it opened on March 28, 1927.

The golden brick and terracotta façade contrasts with an auditorium styled after the Louis XV era, with steep stadium seating, one balcony and a plaster dome. The façade and interior became New York City landmarks in 1987.

The Shubert Organization has operated the venue since 1930. Major musicals premiered here, including Carousel and South Pacific, and The Phantom of the Opera ran from 1988 to 2023.
