The Maisel Synagogue in Prague's Josefov was funded by Mordechai Maisel, who bought the site in 1590 and received an imperial privilege from Rudolf II in 1591. Judah Coref de Herz designed it and Josef Wahl built it, and it was consecrated on Simchat Torah in 1592. Sources conflict on its original style.
Fires in 1689 and 1754 damaged it, and the first rebuild lost one third of its length. It was reconstructed to a plan by Wertmüller in 1864, and again by Alfred Grotte in the 1890s. It held a silver Judaica exhibition from 1965 to 1988 and reopened to visitors in 1996.
A reconstruction from April 2014 to June 2015 added a barrier-free entrance and accentuated decorative elements previously unified in white. The infobox says it is closed as a synagogue, while the text calls it a congregation. The article gives no materials or dimensions.
