Magna in Rotherham occupies the former Templeborough Steelworks, which ran from 1917 to 1993. WilkinsonEyre led the design team, with Event Communications designing the exhibits. The Magna Trust owns and runs it. It opened after conversion in April 2001. The article names no style or materials, and describes a site about a third of a mile long.

The centre has four pavilions called Earth, Air, Fire and Water, an outdoor Sci-Tek play area and an Aqua-Tek water play area. Its best-known display is The Big Melt, an hourly show of electric arc furnace steelmaking with fog, sparks, flames and propane blasts.

It won the 2001 RIBA Stirling Prize and the 2002 Design Week award for Best Exhibition. It also hosts events and conferences. The article gives no hours.
