Longleat in Wiltshire was designed by Robert Smythson, though the article says Sir John Thynne did most of the design. Thynne was the client, and his family, now the Marquesses of Bath, still own it. The infobox gives 1568 to 1580. The text says rebuilding followed an April 1567 fire, took 12 years and was effectively complete by 1580.

The article calls it an Elizabethan prodigy house. It names no materials or dimensions for the house. Capability Brown landscaped the park, and Jeffry Wyatville modernized the house.

It opened to the public in 1949, and the safari park opened in 1966. A Titian painting was stolen in 1995 and recovered in 2002. It is a Grade I listed stately home and family seat, open from mid-February to early November each year. The article gives no daily hours.
