The Leopold Museum stands in the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. Wikidata credits Ortner & Ortner as its architect, and the article gives no design details. The Leopold Museum Private Foundation owns it. The foundation formed in 1994 from the collection of Elisabeth and Rudolf Leopold, with support from the Republic of Austria and the National Bank of Austria. The museum opened in 2001.

It holds one of the largest collections of modern Austrian art, especially works from the first half of the 20th century by Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt. It has the world's largest Egon Schiele collection.

Restitution disputes have followed it. In 2016 it settled with the heirs of Karl Maylaender over five Schiele works, after nearly two decades of dispute. In 2023 the heirs of Fritz Grünbaum sued over four Schiele works.
