The Laxminarayan Temple, or Birla Mandir, stands on Mandir Marg, west of Connaught Place in New Delhi. Sris Chandra Chatterjee designed it. The infobox names Baldeo Das Birla as creator, while the text credits him and his son Jugal Kishore Birla with building it. Construction began in 1933 and was completed in 1939, and Mahatma Gandhi inaugurated it on the condition that it be open to people of all castes.
The article describes a three-story temple in the Nagara style, though its lead says it follows the Orissan style. The highest shikhara is about 160 feet (49 m) high. The complex covers about 7.5 acres (3 ha), with a built-up area of 22,600 square feet (2,100 m²). The icons are carved from marble brought from Jaipur.
Shrines to Shiva, Ganesha, Hanuman and Buddha stand on the grounds, along with a Krishna-dedicated Geeta Bhawan and gardens. Large crowds come at Janmashtami and Diwali.
