L'Arbre Blanc, or The White Tree, is a housing tower in Montpellier, in southern France. Sou Fujimoto Architects designed it with Nicolas Laisné Associés and Manal Rachdi Oxo Architects. The developers were Promeo Patrimoine and Evolis Promotion. It stands between the city center and the Port Marianne and Odysseum districts, next to the Lez River.
The tower has 17 floors, rises more than 50 meters (164 feet), and holds about 100 apartments. Its curved form carries many large balconies and hanging gardens, which take up more than half of the residential floor area. Residents chose their layouts from a catalog of modular options.
The program also includes a ground-floor restaurant and art gallery open to the public, offices, and a panoramic bar on the top floor. A landscaped park runs along the Lez River. The design uses passive cooling strategies.
