The Langen Foundation stands on the grounds of Museum Insel Hombroich near Neuss, on a former NATO rocket base. Tadao Ando designed it for Marianne and Viktor Langen, whose collection it houses. Marianne Langen died in February 2004 before seeing the finished building, which opened that year. The article gives no construction dates.

It is built of reinforced concrete, glass and steel as a double-skin volume. Two half-buried temporary exhibition wings total 900 square meters, and three exhibition spaces total 1,300. Two subterranean rooms have 8-meter ceilings.

The Japan Room is a long, narrow ground-level gallery for the Japanese collection, conceived as a space of tranquility. Modern art hangs in the subterranean rooms.
