The Lahore Museum, called the Jubilee Museum when it opened, stands on The Mall in Lahore. Bhai Ram Singh and John Lockwood Kipling designed the present building, and Ganga Ram oversaw construction. It was built in the Indo-Saracenic style as a memorial to Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee of 1887, paid for by a special public fund. Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence, laid the foundation stone on February 3, 1890, and the collection moved in when it was completed in 1894.
The entrance hall ceiling holds Sadequain's 48-panel mural The Evolution of Mankind, which weather and termites damaged. The panels were removed in 2010, restoration began in 2012, and 16 had been restored by 2018. The Zamzama Gun stands in front.
The collection is given as 60,000 items in the infobox and over 58,000 in the text, with 14,000 on display.
