La Llotja de Lleida is a theater and congress center in Pardinyes, on the site of a former municipal market near the Segre river. Mecanoo of Delft designed it, picked from seven studios that submitted proposals in 2004 after Rafael Moneo declined. Lleida City Council owns it, and La Llotja de Lleida S.A. operates it. It opened on January 21, 2010, with Verdi's Il Trovatore, and King Juan Carlos opened it officially on March 23, 2010. The cost was €37 million.
The article names no style and describes a horizontal form with cantilevers that shelter an event square. The exterior is stone, the interior mainly white plaster, with black wood walls in the theater. A roof garden with a mirador keeps the building cool in summer.
The main auditorium seats 1,000, and two congress halls hold 400 and 200.
