The Kunsthalle Mannheim is a museum of modern and contemporary art in Mannheim. Hermann Billing designed the original building of 1907, a temporary structure for the International Art Exhibition marking the city's 300th anniversary. The article calls it a juvenile-style building. It became a municipal art gallery, and the museum opened in 1909.
Gerkan, Marg and Partners of Hamburg designed the new building, which replaced a 1983 extension. It has seven exhibition halls and a glass-roofed atrium 72 feet (22 m) high. The structure is concrete, glass and steel, wrapped in bronze mesh. It reopened on June 1, 2018.
The collection has about 1,500 works, including pieces by Manet, Cézanne, Grosz and Kandinsky. Thirty-eight works by Anselm Kiefer are on long-term loan. The article gives no hours or prices.
