Kokura Castle in Kitakyushu was built by Hosokawa Tadaoki. The infobox gives 1608, and the text says construction began in 1602 and finished in 1608. The article names no architect, style, original materials or dimensions. The Ogasawara clan held it from 1632 to 1860.
A fire in 1837 was followed by partial rebuilding in 1839. Retreating Kokura troops burned the castle in 1866 during the Second Chōshū expedition. The writer Mori Ōgai was based there around 1900, when it was a military base.
The keep was rebuilt in 1959, and the castle was fully restored in 1990. The article says the 1959 keep is not a fully accurate reconstruction. It is a 10-minute walk from JR Kokura Station. Keep admission is 350 yen, the garden 300 yen and the museum 600 yen. The article gives no hours.
