The Kılıç Ali Pasha Complex in Tophane, Istanbul, was designed by Mimar Sinan, who was in his 90s at the time, for the Grand Admiral Kılıç Ali Pasha. The mosque was built from 1578 to 1580, and the full complex from 1580 to 1587. The infobox lists the style as Ottoman, and the layout resembles Hagia Sophia. The article says Grand Vizier Rüstem Pasha reportedly remarked that, since he was the admiral, he should build his mosque on the sea.
The mosque has granite piers, marble columns, a marble fountain and portal, mother-of-pearl doors on the türbe and İznik tile panels. Its central dome is about 42 feet (12.7 m) wide, and it has one minaret and 247 windows.
The complex includes a medrese, a hamam completed in 1583, a türbe and a fountain. The medrese may not be Sinan's work, because it is absent from his list of works.
