Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with Larsen & Toubro as contractor. The airport is owned and operated by BIAL. The first phase began in 2018 and was delayed by COVID-19. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it on November 11, 2022, and all international flights moved there on September 12, 2023. The article describes it as a tribute to Bengaluru's Garden City title.

Phase 1 cost 5,000 crore rupees and covers 255,000 square meters. It adds 25 million passengers a year, and Phase 2, under construction, adds 20 million more.

It has 95 check-in counters, 17 security lanes and nine baggage belts, plus Code-F gate provisions for the A380 and Boeing 747-8.
