Jessop West at 1 Upper Hanover Street, Sheffield is a university building designed by the Berlin firm Sauerbruch Hutton. Construction started in 2007 and finished in 2009, at a cost of £21.2 million. The article names no client or style, though it calls the building part of the University of Sheffield.
The cladding is stainless steel and colored glass. The triple-glazed glass was designed for the building to cut road noise, and the building is passively ventilated. It has three wings, built for the law, history and English departments. Law later moved out, and history was replaced in 2025 by modern language and music offices.
The ground floor is open to the public, with the Jessop Cafe, a visitor center and a foyer that has held exhibitions. It forms part of a project to pedestrianize Leavygreave Road on the former Jessop Hospital site, which closed in 2001.
