Jaunpils Castle is in Jaunpils Parish, in the Semigallia region of Latvia. It has been described as more of a manor house than a fortified castle. The Livonian Order built it, probably at the end of the 14th century, and it is first mentioned in 1411. A tower was added in the 15th century.
The von der Recke family owned it from 1576 until 1920. The Swedes heavily damaged it in 1625. A fire during the 1905 revolution led the architect Wilhelm Bockslaff to rebuild it in 1906. After the land reforms of the 1920s it housed a cattle-breeding station.
Today it is a hotel with medieval-style apartments. The castle tower and the von der Recke shield, which appears in the arms of the parish, are among its key features.
