Isbjerget, the Iceberg, stands on the Aarhus Docklands waterfront on Mariane Thomsens Gade. CEBRA, JDS Architects, Louis Paillard and SeARCH designed it for the developer NCC AB, with funding from the pension fund PensionDanmark. Work started in 2010 and finished in 2013. The article calls the style modernist.
Four buildings hold 208 apartments, both rented and owned. Apartments range from 55 to 200 square meters, with two-story, double-height or shifted floor plans. Buildings rise up to 10 floors.
The design was inspired by floating icebergs in the North Atlantic. White terrazzo clads the facades, and the balconies are blue glass. Steep crooked roofs give residents views of the sea. The article notes the apartments are both rented and owned, spread across the four separate buildings.
