The Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis was designed by Edwin May, and Adolf Scherer supervised construction. The text spells the second name Scherer and the infobox Scherrer. A commission led by Thomas A. Morris planned the project for the State of Indiana. The cornerstone was laid on September 28, 1880, and it was completed in October 1888, though the first legislative session met there in 1887.
The infobox lists Renaissance Revival, and the interior is modeled on Italian Renaissance design. The plan is cross-shaped, four stories, with a central glass-domed rotunda and a pinnacle of 256 feet (78 m). Indiana limestone is used throughout, with Indiana oak doors and marble and granite.
It was renovated from 1988 to 1995 for about 11 million dollars. The infobox gives the National Register listing as August 28, 1975, while the text says 1984. Public tours run on weekdays, with limited weekend morning tours. The article gives no hours.
