The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill was designed by Charles Harrison Townsend, who also designed the 1911 western wing. Frederick John Horniman founded it with money from the family tea business. The text gives commissioning in 1898 and opening in 1901, matching the infobox's 1901. The article calls the style Modern Style, or British Art Nouveau, and names no materials for the main building.

Allies and Morrison designed the 2002 extension, and Archetype designed the CUE building, which opened in 1996 using Walter Segal's methods and has a grass roof. The gardens cover 16 acres. A mosaic mural is 10 by 32 feet and has over 117,000 tesserae.

The museum is Grade II* listed, since 1973, and its gardens are Grade II. It returned 72 items to Nigeria in November 2022 and won Art Fund Museum of the Year in 2022. The article gives no hours or prices.
