Holy Trinity Church stands in central Warsaw and is one of three Lutheran churches in the city. Piotr Tepper, the king's banker, obtained the privilege to build it in 1777 from King Stanisław August Poniatowski. The king reserved the right to choose the design, and Szymon Bogumił Zug was the architect. Construction ran from 1777 to 1782.
The church is a Neoclassical rotunda partly based on the Pantheon in Rome. Its dome is 33.4 meters wide and the building is 58 meters tall. It was once the tallest building in Warsaw, and the Polish Army used it as a vantage point during the Kościuszko Uprising. A double gallery circles the interior.
Frédéric Chopin played the choralion here in April 1825 before Tsar Alexander I. German forces bombed and burned the church on September 16, 1939, and it was rebuilt from 1948 to 1953.
