Holnstein Palace in Munich was designed by François de Cuvilliés for Sophie Caroline von Ingenheim, Countess von Holnstein, a mistress of Charles VII, Holy Roman Emperor. It was built from 1733 to 1737. The text names its style as Rococo and gives no materials. The page has no infobox.
It is a four-winged building around a courtyard, with a front house for representative use and a rear building for privacy. The facade is three stories and nine window bays, with a flat central avant-corps under a gable and pilasters dividing the upper floors. Johann Baptist Zimmermann did the interior decoration.
It has been the residence of the Archbishop of Munich and Freising since 1818. Joseph Ratzinger lived here as archbishop from 1977 to 1982. A renovation cost 8.7 million euros. It is closed to the public, and only the facade can be viewed.
