Hohenschwangau Castle near Füssen in Bavaria was given its neo-Gothic exterior by Domenico Quaglio, followed by Joseph Daniel Ohlmüller and Georg Friedrich Ziebland. Maximilian II of Bavaria bought the property in 1832. Work began in February 1833 and continued until 1837, with additions up to 1855.
The article calls the exterior neo-Gothic and gives no materials or dimensions. The castle was first mentioned in 1397 as Schwanstein, was plundered in 1743 and was sold in 1820. It was the childhood home of Ludwig II and was electrified in 1905.
It opened as a museum in 1913 and was undamaged in both World Wars. The Wittelsbach Compensation Fund took it over in 1923. The infobox lists the Duke of Bavaria as owner, while the text says the fund owns it. It is open all year except Christmas and draws over 300,000 visitors a year.
